Gap filling and under floor board insulation

In older properties you will find air bricks on the outside walls, the air bricks are situated lower than the suspended floor this allows air to flow under your house and acts as simple damp proof, if you have gaps between your floor boards you will feel this air flow, this will make your house feel cold.
Based on the results of research carried out by the Energy Saving Trust, it is estimated that filling floorboard gaps can reduce your household heating bills and reduce your CO2. If you have underfloor insulation installed, this can save your heating usage, we can even install underfloor insulation, before your new carpet is fitted.

Reclaimed wood slithers

Reclaimed wood slithers are suitable for gaps 3mm or wider, the slithers are glued between the gaps of the floorboards and sanded to the floor level. We use reclaimed wood and make our own slithers to ensure the quality of the wood used is to our high standards. Due to the many varieties of pine we can never guarantee a full colour match to your floor, but will endeavour to match as close as possible. Due to the natural nature of wood and its expansion, contraction gapfilling is not guaranteed and may fallout over time.

Resin filler

We recommend resin filler for small gaps.  We will mix resin with sanding dust from your floor to achieve a colour tone close to your original floor. Due to the natural nature of wood and its expansion, contraction gapfilling is not guaranteed and may fallout over time.

Authentic gap filing

If you like the look of the gaps in your floor boards but do not want the draught, we use a special product that will expand and contract with your floor boards so it will not drop out, this is placed a few millimetres lower than the floorboards leaving you with the natural look.
